For those of you who thought the days of mass in Latin are over or that it would be boring, you thought wrong. I was one of the these people and thanks to being part of SPAYAM, I had the opportunity to attend a Latin mass. Between the Gregorian style chanting of the entire mass (except the homily), the formal vestments worn by the priest and altar servers, the candles, holy water, etc. it felt like a truly spiritual celebration. Afterwards, I was sorry it ended and felt very uplifted to the point I want to go again. However, I was further uplifted with the awesome lunch of Chinese Bao and company of fellow SPAYAMERS. Truly this is an experience, amongst many others that I do not believe I ever would have had, if not for being part of SPAYAM. Thanks.

My favorite event was the concert at Santa Monica pier in summer. The group was just so alive to me - we were all enjoying each other's company and bonded! It felt like we were a family, and I introduced my friend from out of town visiting, and she all thought they were nice and she felt she was part of the group instantly too. It just went to show how warm, receiving and caring SPAYAM is. Oh, and Beach Boys tribute was the highlight for me...but it was a total dance party anyways!

I found a little note in the Sunday bulletin about the young adults group at St. Paul the Apostle and just felt a calling to attend. Not knowing anybody I attended the first meeting and was WARMLY welcomed! I have now been going to SPAYAM for five months and have loved every moment of it. Having such an opportunity to spend time with other young adults who are active in their Catholic faith helps me to be a better Catholic. Every week we have an insightful discussion and fellowship and it enlightens me every Thursday.
